You can't see it very well in this picture, but this skirt is totally off grain.
I bought this fabric online because I am trying to break out off my box and sew something different. I was in a hurry to get this skirt done because I needed to wear it somewhere. It is New Look 6854.
It is pretty basic, so I whipped it up fast. But it was too short so I bound the seam with bias tape and just barely turned it up and fused it with steam a seam. Well needless to say I put it on and the pattern in the fabric is way off. It is a stretch cotton sateen, which is great to work with and easy to wear. I was going to throw it away, but decided... What the Hay .... I'm going to wear it anyway. Which I did.
Lesson learned: don't bee in such a hurry.
Oh, boo! I hate when that happens.
ReplyDeleteWell, I can't see that it is off grain. I love the fabric!
ReplyDeleteThat's the thing when you make something. You know where something is off or not quite right, but no one else really will. The colors are great, too.
ReplyDeleteThe colors in that skirt make it so worth keeping. I would be very surprised if anyone noticed the grain issue.
ReplyDeleteI hate that when it happens. I absolutely LOVE the fabric, though. I noticed it in the earlier pictures. The colors are amazing - I also love the print. This fabric is very "ME"!!!!!! I often wear what others describe as funky pants or skirts!!
